Saya Kisaragi is an ordinary girl living with her father Tadayoshi, a priest of a Shinto temple.
She goes to school, has friends and is an incurable glutton, but when duty calls, she goes to fight creatures called the Elders with the sacred sword that runs in her family.
However, this balance between her two lives is gradually upset when her duty catches up with her daily life.
